Daisy Flores
Daisy is a second-year transfer from Irvine Valley College at Cal Poly Pomona majoring in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Geospatial Engineering. Before attending college, she completed a North America’s Building Trades Union Apprenticeship Readiness Program, which guided her into pursuing civil engineering with the intention of entering the construction industry. During her time at IVC, she encountered many surveyors in the surrounding area that was going under development, but what made surveying stand out was occasionally seeing women performing the work, giving her the confidence that she can also do so too. Once, she began her fall semester at CPP in 2023, Daisy joined CLSA to learn more about the niches within surveying and participated in the National Society of Professional Surveyors Student Competition, which allowed her to get insight on the historical significance of surveying in the U.S. Although she completed an internship over the summer with W.E. O’Neil Construction as an assistant project engineer, she got a broader understanding of the importance of surveying and had the chance to see the survey work performed at the LA Harbor College Southeast Hall project. As the Vice-President for the 2024-2025 academic school year, Daisy is excited to continue learning and expanding her network within surveying.
